Cleaning and Preparing the Artifacts

After the artifacts are dug up from the ground,  the work begins.  The next thing to do is to get the dirt off everything.  This is done by washing and scrubbing with a toothbrush and water.  After the cleaning is done, the artifacts are laid out to dry.  The archeologists try to figure out  what it is that they have found. The artifacts are numbered, sorted, and stored. There is a big room at the dome where all of this is done.  The pictures below show  Karina doing these things.  The other people in the pictures are tourists who are helping.  Click on a small picture for a larger one.
